Been here twice before but the last time I came me and my family ordered and they didn't have one thing that we wanted, so we decided to get something else and they also did not have that. We ended up leaving and going somewhere else.

Booked a Christmas lunch. Ordered the lamb, OK, but veg served with it, carrot & parsnip were cold. Not enough veg either. Only a few sprouts served separately. No toasties or any other veg. Glass of fizz served with the meal was half a glass each. Christmas pudding was clearly shop bought microwaved with tiny amount of custard. No salt & pepper in the table, no Chrietmas crackers or music playing. We left still hungry. Wouldn't return.

Can't rate the rooms as we didn't stay for the evening, came for Sunday lunch! The food was great, my partner ordered the Prawn Cocktail for starter...it wasn't presented how we would have expected, however she did enjoy it and said it was tasty. My soup was great, albeit a little bit peppery but very tasty. I had chicken and my partner had the pork, we both ended up leaving some because we were definitely full and fit to burst! FYI, those yorkshires were great! Would definitely recommend coming here for food, and we are considering staying the night one night in the future.

Hello, I give this place 1 star since I woke up with a toothpick inside my wife's pom pom when looking for something 😡. We don't use tooth picks so must have been from the last person who stayed in the room. That tooth pick could of injured someone but luckily not.

The staff are very passionate about their work, very friendly. The breakfast was amazing and the evening meals too! The room was nice and typical of the age with all the classic features. Perfect for a days fishing on the lakes next door.

Beautiful pub tucked away in the Durham countryside. We ordered corned beef pie which came with homemade chips and proper pod 🫛 peas which was delicious though could have been a bit warmer (I'm referring to the pie but delicious chips and peas were hot). We sat outside by the stream which was lovely. Can't comment on the interior of the pub as we only glimpsed when ordering but first impression was olde worlde and quite dark. Have seen a lot of comments about the accommodation being a bit drab and dusty but again didn't stay there so can't comment

Lovely pub in an idealic setting. We have stopped here several times whilst doing the C2C cycle ride and it's always been great. Lovely rooms, friendly staff, great breakfast and excellent evening food. When the sun is out and you're sat in the beer garden.... what more do you need!!

We haven't visited for years but the Sunday, Father's Day lunch was just a nice as ever. Very warm, friendly, helpful staff. Beautiful location. However, the place seems to be in need of some tlc, a deep clean and decorating. The men's toilets had a real "eye watering" atmosphere.

Always a nice ambience when dining here. Recently took a relative for their birthday. Food was amazing (as always, I've eaten here before). Staff are lovely, great atmosphere. Food prices were a little higher than last time, but for what you're getting, it's well worth it. You'll definitely be glad you came.
